GERALD  FERRARI  AWARD

The Gerald Ferrari Award was established to recognize persons who are behind-the-scenes supporters of Emergency Medical Services. It is an award to honor those who are part of the system in a non hands-on manner.

Jerry Ferrari was an ambulance salesman. However, he did not merely “sell” ambulances. Instead, he acted as a technical expert and advisor to his clients. He assisted EMS providers in making vehicle purchases by listening to their needs and then by supporting their ideas and suggestions with the manufacturers. His interest was not all in the selling, but also in the satisfaction he could bring to his clients.

Of major importance to Jerry was that the sick and injured are entitled to have the best transport equipment available to help them in their time of need.

This award is to recognize individuals who are not necessarily Emergency Medical Services practitioners, but rather, the unsung heroes whose work is often behind the scenes and may go unnoticed and unappreciated, persons whose efforts may positively change or enhance EMS.

This award was established in 1997.
