Dear EMS Colleagues:
After eight years of service to the EMS community, I must now say goodbye. Due to the layoffs, I am being reassigned to another unit in the Department of Public Health.
I encourage all of you to continue to work to improve Connecticut's EMS system. Without your direct involvement, emergency medical care for our families, friends, and co-workers may be in jeopardy. Just as you rapidly assess patients to determine how to care for them, you need to rapidly assess how to save the EMS system. Don't waste time bickering among yourselves or fighting for turf, we need to focus on what's best for the system. EMS is more than one EMT, one EMS service, one sponsor hospital or one regional council. We are in this together. Now is the time for you to act.
I have enjoyed working with you through positive times and challenging ones.
God bless you all. I hope someday to return to my responsibilities in the Office of Emergency Medical Services and help to achieve success for Connecticut EMS.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Mayeran, MPH, EMT
